This is a once-in-a-lifetime tour taking in two of Latin America’s most known and celebrated highlights. Tick two of your bucket list’s destinations off in this 3-week ultimate journey to Machu Picchu and the Galápagos Islands.
Starting in Lima, you’ll discover all the highlights of this bustling Peruvian capital, then travelling to colonial Cusco – the gateway to Machu Picchu, before flying to the Galapagos to enjoy stunning landscapes, breath-taking scenery and an abundance of wildlife.
On this 22 day small escorted group tour, you’ll have the flexibility of choosing your own included excursions, whether that’s a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Centre on Santa Cruz Island, or a trip to a lesser known idyllic beach for snorkelling and relaxing, you’ll have a choice of cultural, gastronomic or local experiences.

Land in the bustling Peruvian capital where you will spend the first night in the trendy Miraflores district.

Lima City Tour – Take a guided journey through the history of Lima and explore the capital’s main sights including the beautiful square and Cathedral. You will also have time to stop at the Chocolate Museum!
Lima Foodie Tour – The most representative flavours of Peruvian cuisine will be waiting for you as you embark on an unforgettable culinary adventure. Begin your journey in a typical Peruvian market and end the tour by preparing and enjoying some popular local dishes.
Palomino Islands -Travel by boat to the Palomino Islands where an untouched ecosystem is home to thousands of sea lions. Brave the cold waters to have the chance to swim with these curious and friendly sea animals.

Fly to Arequipa in the morning. Enjoy a guided tour through its beautifully preserved colonial centres and visit the stunning Santa Catalina Convent, a 16th-century monastery which is still inhabited by Dominican nuns to this day.

Today will be a delight of amazing landscapes as you journey through the Peruvian altiplano towards the Colca Canyon. The trip will be around 5 hours but with plenty of stops for you to stretch your legs and enjoy tthe spectacular views.

Wake up early to go in search of condors gliding on the warm morning thermal currents. This is a morning for visual delights and wildlife encounters! Your guide will help you spot the elusive birds amongst the scenery of the vast canyon.

The deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca await you. The journey will be around 5 to 6 hours but Peru’s beautiful scenery will be accompanying you along the way and your Tour Leader will entertain you with insightful and fun stories about the country!

Lake Titicaca has been home to several indigenous communities for centuries, and many still live here. You will learn about their ancient ways of life with a tour to the Uros and Taquile Islands. From here you will take a short hike to reach a viewpoint with stunning panoramic vistas, and a local restaurant will reward your efforts with a tasty and typical lunch of freshly caught fish.

Another day for stunning scenery as you take the tourist bus to Cusco. Along the way, you will visit Andahuaylillas, a town where you will find a precious church from the 17th century. Next will be a guided visit to the Raqchi archaeological site and your last stop will be at La Raya, the highest point on the road, from where you will get excellent photo opportunities.

The old Inca capital will inspire you with its beautifully preserved colonial centre and Inca ruins. You will visit Sacsayhuamán fortress on the city’s outskirts, and during a walking tour you will stop at San Pedro Market for an insight into modern life in Cusco, as this is where the locals buy fresh produce and you can find your perfect souvenir to take back home!

Treasures of the Sacred Valley – Take an in-depth tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the archaeological site of Moray, the Maras salt mines and the Inca complex of Ollantaytambo, one of the largest in Peru. In the town you will have some time to stroll through the market and the cobblestone streets on your own.
Chocolate Making Class – Being a producer of some of the finest cacao in the world, Peru is the perfect place to learn how to make your own chocolate bar! This tour is perfect if you wish to learn about one of Peru’s most famous exports in the morning, and have the afternoon free to explore Cusco.
Misminay Community Visit– Enjoy a day in the company of a local Sacred Valley Community. Famous for its production of alpaca textiles, Misminay is a small community of 100 families located at 3,700 metres altitude. They will welcome you for the day, and share their traditional Andean lifestyle through several participatory activities.

Today will be an early start that culminates in the highlight you have been waiting for. Following a train and a bus ride, you will reach Machu Picchu, where you will enjoy a guided tour before having lunch in the charming Aguas Calientes, followed by a free afternoon to explore at your own pace.

For another chance to visit Machu Picchu we have included a second entry to
the citadel. You can enjoy your morning visit at your own speed, so you may choose to stay in the area, or hike to the Sun Gate. You will take the train back to Cusco in the early afternoon for your last night in Peru.

You will fly to Quito, via Lima, for one night in Ecuador before flying to the Galápagos.

Join the Latin Routes passengers on the Ecuador and Galápagos Group Tour at Quito airport and fly to Baltra Island, the gateway to the Galápagos. You will visit the famous giant tortoise reserve, and admire these wonderful animals roaming in the wild. Your accommodation is in a privileged position high on the highlands with fantastic views, and is a combination of raised safari tents and treehouses.

Board a comfortable motor yacht for an excursion to one of the nearby islands. The expert crew will welcome you aboard and a knowledgeable naturalist guide will offer deep insights into the natural history of the islands.

Today you will take a speedboat to one of the most famous of all the Galápagos Islands. Isabela is one of the youngest and the biggest in the archipelago and offers not only a wealth of different wildlife species but also some of the most dramatic landscapes. You will visit the island’s breeding centre in the morning and later in the day you can snorkel in Tintoreras Islet, where you may spot white tipped sharks, sea lions, turtles, rays and penguins.

Be ready for one of your most unforgettable days, as you spend it exploring Isabela’s highlands. Hike up to the crater of the Sierra Negra Volcano followed by a trek along the rim of Volcan Chico. The otherworldly landscapes will appear to be utterly desolate, however, you will encounter plenty of wildlife and enjoy amazing views of Isabela and its neighbouring islands. A deserved relaxing break on the beaches of Puerto Villamil will await at the end of the day.

In the morning you will snorkel through a maze of small islands and arches in the company of fish, sea turtles and the occasional white tipped shark. In the afternoon you will hike the Wetlands Trail where you can see colonies of marine iguanas and several types of mangrove trees.

Tortuga Bay & Charles Darwin – Walk to the beautiful beach of Tortuga Bay where you can spot marine iguanas, go for a swim, snorkel or just relax on the sandy beach. Visit the Charles Darwin Research Centre where the Galápagos’ most important conservation projects are carried out.
Local Cooking Class – The Galápagos Islands are not just about wildlife; there is also the fascinating life of their inhabitants to discover. Learn the local cooking traditions of the people that have made this magical place their home.
Garrapatero Beach – Lesser known than Tortuga Bay, this beach is an idyllic place to swim, relax and admire the ever present and unique wildlife of the Galápagos going about their daily business.

Your tour of Peru, Ecuador and the Galápagos has come to an end. In the morning you will catch a flight to mainland Ecuador to connect with your international flight back home.
