Day 1: Travel to Scotland

Fly into Edinburgh and meet your Tour Manager before transferring to your hotel. Check in and then enjoy a couple of hours free to relax or explore the nearby riverside walks, before taking dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Included rail travel from Inverness

Board your first train in Inverness, bound for Kyle of Lochalsh. Rolling out of the station to begin its scenic journey, the train hugs the edge of the Beauly Firth. Take in the views of the ‘Black Isle’ before we come to Dingwall, and then head west and ascend through the starkly beautiful northern Highlands. We’ll pass the Torridon Hills before descending towards the jaw-dropping beauty of Loch Carron.

Day 3: Included Strathspey steam rail journey

The air is filled with the evocative smells of steam rail, today, as the Strathspey Steam Railway passes through pristine Highland scenery on its nine-and-a-half-mile journey to Aviemore. Once here you’re free to explore until the time comes to head home.

Day 4: Included West Highland rail journey

Our last rail journey takes us along a 42-mile stretch of the West Highland Line to Mallaig. Cross the Glenfinnan viaduct’s 21 arches, look out towards the wind-swept Isle of Skye and pass the white sands of Morar. At Mallaig, the day’s destination, explore the heritage centre and walk the Mallaig Circuit to make the most of its spectacular views out over Mallaig harbour and across Loch Nevis to Knoydart.

Day 5: Return to Edinburgh and head home

Say goodbye to your hotel and the glorious scenery of the Highlands, today, and board the coach back to Edinburgh. If time allows, you may be able to spend a few hours exploring Scotland’s historic capital before heading to the airport or beginning your own journey home.
