Fly from London (regional connections available) to Bucharest. Transfer to Novotel Hotel (or similar) for 1 night. Welcome drink.

Tour Bucharest, taking in its boulevards and belle époque buildings. Visit the Old Princely Court and the Royal Palace before travelling to Sibiu where you’ll stay at Hotel Ramada for 2 nights.

In the morning, tour the olds town, before enjoying some time at leisure. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit the Brukenthal Museum. In the evening, visit the village of Sibiel for dinner, including a cooking demonstration.

Transfer to Sighisoara via the salt mine at Turda. One of the largest salt mines in the world, a highlight is the great hall, which due to its great acoustics is used as a concert venue. Continue onto Sighisoara, staying at the Hotel Central Park (or similar) for 1 night.

Tour the UNESCO listed town of Sighisoara, a medieval settlement whose cobbled streets are lined with colourful houses. You’ll visit the citadel, the Church on the Hill and the clock tower. Travel north to Gura Humorului via Targu Mures, a Hungarian stronghold. Stay two nights at the La Cocnac Bucovina and enjoy a traditional dinner and dance show.

Tour the area’s painter monestaries, some of Europe’s greatest artistic monuments.

Head south to Brasov, via the Agapia monastery, a Romanian Orthodox nunnery. Continue to Lac Rosu for lunch and then on to Brasov. The rest of the day is at leisure. Stay at the Hotel Aro Palace (or similar) for 2 nights.

Drive through the beautiful Transylvanian countryside to Bran Castle, famously associated with Dracula, where you’ll have a tour and a coffee stop. Then, drive to Sinaia to visit the palaces of Peles and Pelisor, the former royal residences of King Carol I. Return to Brasov.

This morning, tour Brasov and view the Piata Sfatului, one of the finest baroque squares in Romania. Visit the Black Church to see its collection of Ottoman rugs and St Nicholas to see Romania’s first school. Return to Bucharest and stay overnight at the Novotel Hotel (or similar)

Visit the Palace of Parliament before transferring to the airport for the flight back to London.

Located 2km from the renowned painted monasteries, La Conac in Bucovina offers comfortable accommodation in a picturesque woodland setting. All guestrooms are designed in a simple and modern contemporary style, with en suite facilities. There are spacious gardens within the hotel’s grounds and the option for alfresco dining in the summer months
The UNESCO-listed Danube Delta biosphere reserve is one of the world’s largest wetlands and is a migration hub for thousands of birds travelling to and from Mongolia, Siberia, India, Africa and China. Explore the delta’s many waterways and spot an amazing array of birdlife.
Day 10 – Danube Delta
Travel to Bestepe and stay at the Hotel Wels or similar, situated beside the delta for 2 nights.

Morning and afternoon excursions along the delta’s waterways and lakes.

Travel back to Bucharest in the morning, transfer to the airport and fly to London.
