December is a perfect month to visit Vietnam, so why not enjoy a change of pace and celebrate Christmas there too? Begin your adventure in the historic city of Saigon before heading to the coast to see the charming towns of Hoi An and imperial Hue. From here, fly north to Vietnam’s leafy capital, Hanoi. Come Christmas Eve, embark on an exciting two-night cruise into the waters of Halong Bay and its secret twin, the ethereally beautiful Lan Ha Bay, where you can swim, kayak and relax to your heart’s content.

Days 1-2 – Fly to Saigon
Fly overnight to the city of Saigon. Once there, the rest of the day is at leisure, giving you the chance to start exploring

Day 3 – Discover Saigon
In the morning, visit the Cu Chi tunnels before returning to Saigon. Explore some the city’s sights, including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Reunification Museum and the War Remnants Museum.

Day 4 – Mekong Delta
Journey to Ben Tre where you’ll begin a cruise on the Mekong. Enjoy a lunch of typical Mekong dishes and make a stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda on the way back to Saigon

Day 5 – Journey to Hoi An
Fly to Danang and transfer to Hoi An where you’ll take a walking tour of the town. Visit an old merchant’s house, Quan Cong Temple, and the bustling market

Day 6 – Tra Que Village
Head out into the countryside to Tra Que, a small farming community. Here you can enjoy the lush green countryside and stroll through the gardens to see the farmers at work. Later spend the afternoon at leisure back in Hoi An.

Day 7 – Imperial Hue
Head to Hue where you’ll visit the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden Purple City. You’ll then head to the UNESCO World Heritage Royal Tomb of Minh Mang. Later on, see the Thein Mu Pagoda before taking a cruise on the Perfume River.

Day 8 – Fly to Hanoi
Fly to Hanoi where you’ll have the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, you’ll attend the Quintessence of Tonkin show, a famous open-air performance celebrating the rich history of North Vietnam.

Day 9 – Explore Hanoi
Wander through the Ho Chi Minh quarter where you’ll visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Stilt House. Towards the end of the day, take a cyclo tour through the Old Quarter

Day 10 – Christmas Eve in Halong Bay
Embark on a two-night cruise out into the bay. Enjoy lunch on board before enjoying the afternoon’s activities which include swimming and sunbathing at Trinh Nu Beach or exploring Trinh Nu Cave. End the day bu watching the sunset from the deck

Day 11 – Christmas Day in Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay
Begin the day watching the sunrise as you head to Lan Ha Bay. There’s a range of activities on offer, from kayaking to a tour of Cua Van Fishing village. This evening, enjoy a drinks reception on deck, exclusively for Wendy Wu Tours travellers.

Day 12 – Return to Hanoi
Begin the day with Tai chi or an early morning adventure to Sung Sot Cave before heading back to dock. Once you’ve arrived back to Hanoi, you’ll have the rest of the day leisure

Enjoy time at leisure before transferring to the airport for your onward flight.
