Hurtigruten The Ultimate Antarctica Experience
Cross the Antarctic Circle at latitude 66° 33' 39'' to go where very few have been before. This trip is ideal for the most adventurous who want an active experience full of action and the wonderful sights of Antarctica.
Starting in Buenos Aires, with its ‘European like' atmosphere, it is commonly called the “Paris of South America”, here you have the time to drop by the iconic, balconied presidential palace before embarking on MS Fram in Ushuaia and setting course for the scenic Beagle Channel for the Drake Passage.
You voyage the open sea before you reach the Falkland Islands with its infinite horizons, vast open spaces, stunning white sand beaches and a wildlife of penguins and more. Here, you explore the northwest part before you continue to the capital Stanley which you will find unusually familiar with its red buses and English pubs. Stanley is also the natural starting point for several excursions.
Moving onto South Georgia, there you will visit a mass of Whaling stations and learn all about the Antarctic through a series of lectures. South Georgia is one of the coldest, driest, windiest and most remote continents on Earth.
The deep south and Antarctica will make up most of your cruise which will delve you into remote locations where wild animals remain fearless of man.
The Expedition team will grasp opportunities whenever they can to take you hiking in the arctic mountains or kayaking among icebergs or pitching a tent and following in the footsteps of the historical explorers.
Finishing off you sight whales break the surface of the sea, so always be prepared for the unexpected. Returning back, you will once again sail through the famous Drake Passage, notorious among the early polar explorers, before disembarking in Ushuaia.
