Here are some recommendations to consider when planning a Group Ski Holiday:

Best Group Ski Resorts

With over 164 resorts on offer, it’s almost impossible decision deciding where to take your group of family or friends. Here is our list of the most popular ski resorts for groups:

Val Thorens, France

Val Thorens – one of the three principal resorts that make up the 3 Valleys, one of the largest ski areas in the world – has many claims to fame.  Not only is it the highest point in the 3 Valleys, but Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, with virtually the entire skiing area being above 2000m.

Méribel, France

With Courchevel to the east and Val Thorens to the west, the international resort of Méribel is the ideal base from where to explore the 3 Valleys, one of the largest ski areas in the world. Founded in 1938 by a Scottish colonel, Méribel has enjoyed a long love affair with British skiers.

Chamonix, France

The Chamonix Valley is located at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest summit at 4,810 metres. Registered on the World Heritage list, Chamonix is the birthplace of mountaineering and is considered the grand old lady of alpine resorts.

Les Deux Alpes, France

Spread out along the valley in this historic and charming village, the lifts are every few hundred yards, so you are never far away from one. Ski slopes run down both sides of the resort, which sits in a high altitude valley joining the ‘two alps’ of Venosc and Mont de Lans. The resort is ideal for non-skiers, as it gives access to both the glacier and Venosc by gondola.

Val d’Isère, France

One of the liveliest and best-loved of French ski resorts, Val d’Isere offers a ski holiday with reliable snow, wide open spaces, varied terrain and great nightlife. From a small farming village, Val d’Isere has evolved into an exciting, modern ski resort without losing any of its charm and atmosphere. Both on and off the slopes Val d’Isere really does provide something for everyone.

Les Arcs, France

Not one but four modern purpose-built resorts, each self-contained with bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a range of après-ski activities. Exceptional snow conditions are guaranteed, thanks to the vast majority of the runs being above 2,000m. Aiguille Rouge, the high point of the resort at 3,226m, has a delightful 7 kms run that takes you to the pretty Alpine village of Villaroger.

St. Anton, Austria

A buzzy, cosmopolitan resort in a splendid location, St Anton lives up to its reputation as the place for big skiing, soft snow and serious nightlife. Perched up high in the Arlberg region of Austria’s Tyrolean Alps, St Anton is a delightful mix of old and new, with inviting shops lining a pedestrianised main street.

Vail, USA

A ski resort doesn’t get much better than Vail. An epic winter sports adventure awaits at one of the world’s largest ski areas, boasting an incredible nine metres annual snowfall, soft dry powdery snow and more than 300 days of sunshine a year.  ‘Discovered’ by a group of ski enthusiasts from the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division during WW2, veterans returned after the war to establish a ski area, their dream finally becoming a reality in 1962.

Whistler, Canada
