A ski resort doesn’t get much better than Vail. An epic winter sports adventure awaits at one of the world’s largest ski areas, boasting an incredible nine metres annual snowfall, soft dry powdery snow and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. ‘Discovered’ by a group of ski enthusiasts from the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division during WW2, veterans returned after the war to establish a ski area, their dream finally becoming a reality in 1962.
Not just famous for its 5,000+ acres of awe-inspiring terrain, Vail is also home to an internationally acclaimed ski school and a renowned après-ski scene. A pedestrian-friendly town means you’re never too far away from all the action of Vail Village and Lionshead, with their abundance of world-class dining, high-end shops, spas and nightlife. The excellent Tavern on the Square restaurant serves up delicious gourmet classics, with breath-taking mountain views and live entertainment.
Particularly suitable for confident and intermediate skiers, 5,289 acres of pristine, lift-linked slopes contain some of the biggest areas of treeless terrain with the front face of the mountain offering well-groomed trails cutting through the trees. Notorious for its adventure skiing, seven huge black bowls stretch across over 6 miles with the ‘Blue Sky Basin’ one of its key attractions.
