Aspen, Colorado is one of the most iconic ski destinations in the world. This all-American former silver-mining town is full of cowboy charm mixed with the mountain life. Constantly evolving and improving, this amazing ski resort now features terrain parks, extreme skiing and mogul runs.
Aspen’s ski domain comprises four distinct mountains. Snowmass, the largest of the four, has varied skiing for all levels, with enough to keep even the most energetic skier busy for weeks. Aspen Mountain is where it all began back in the 1940s – it’s challenging and awe-inspiring in equal measure. If you like to hike your way to some spectacular runs, then the Highland Bowl is for you. Buttermilk is the mountain for the less experienced, with long and gentle trails, spacious cruiser runs and scenic views. If you are relatively new to skiing, you will not find a better mountain on which to perfect your technique. There are also some excellent challenging runs here too.
Nestled in the heart of the White River National Park and surrounded by the peaks of the Elk Mountains, Aspen offers more than just skiing – it has hosted the Winter X Games, an annual extreme sports event, since 2002. Off the slopes, you can also take part in exciting activities such as hiking, mountaineering, rock-climbing and ice climbing. And keep an eye out for Hollywood A-listers hurtling down the slopes!
