Day 1: Fly to San José

You will fly from London Heathrow to San José Airport. From there, you will spend 2 nights in the hotels of your choice. Some of them have stunning views of Poas, Barva and Irazu volcanoes as well as the Central Valley.

Day 2: Central Valley

The Central Valley is situated in the heart of Costa Rica where you can see majestic mountains, dramatic volcanoes and enigmatic cloud forests. This day is a chance for you to explore this beautiful scenery at your own pace.

Day 3-4: Tortuguero National Park & Mawamba Park

This National Park is located on the Northern Caribbean Coast and is only accessible by boat or light aircraft. The area is diverse as it has canals, rivers, lagoons and even beaches in a dense rainforest. Indeed, it is one of the rainiest areas in Costa Rica and is home to an abundant wildlife as you can observe monkeys, sloths, jaguars, or turtles such as Hawkbills sea turtle and Leatherback sea turtle.
The visit will also include Mawamba Park and its remarkable butterfly farm, frog farm and iguana farm combined with a nice walk.

Day 5: Transfer to Arenal volcano

After breakfast, you will leave the area by boat and continue your journey by bus towards the Arenal Volcano.

Day 6: Arenal Volcano & Tabacon Hot Springs

Our team will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the start of the hiking trail to Arenal Volcano. The guide will lead you through the zone’s flora where you can potentially see wild animals. You will then get to a viewpoint where you can observe the picturesque Arenal Volcano. A nearly perfect cone shape overlooking the green lush and hillsides that can be seen at its base. Even though the volcano is currently in a resting time, it remains the most active one in Costa Rica for the past 43 years.
A car will get you to Tabacon’s hot springs where you can relax after the hiking. The facility has different temperature pools and these natural hot springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. The magma found in the earth’s core heats and rises the rainwater to the surface, filling the pools throughout the resort.

Day 7: Arenal Lake

You will get on a micros bus for 30 minutes to Arenal Lake Da, and then take a boat for a 30-40 minutes ride to Río Chiquito, a little town on the other side of the lake. Arenal lake is an artificial lake made in 1974 and provides hydroelectric energy for the country. It is the largest one in Costa Rica.

Day 8: Monteverde Reserve Tour

The next day, the naturalist guide will pick you up from your hotel and will start discovering the trails around Monteverde Reserve. The area is renowned for its biodiversity and cloud forest. Monteverde is home to countless wildlife species. In fact, approximately 2.5% of the worldwide biodiversity can be found in this part of Costa Rica. The wildlife includes jaguars, ocelots and the colourful quetzal. You can experience the force of the wind blowing from the Atlantic coast and contemplate the beauty of the scenery.

Day 9: Transfer to Manuel Antonio

You will head to Manuel Antonio which is renowned for its vast diversity of tropical plant and wildlife. Located off the central Pacific coast, the area hosts a variety of wildlife with more than 109 different species of mammals like the howler monkey, the two-toed sloth and the squirrel monkey.

Day 10: Manuel Antonio National Park

You will get to Manuel Antonio National Park located in the central Pacific. It is Costa Rica’s smallest national park and the most popular one. You will be accompanied by a naturalist guide who will share experience and knowledge about the fauna and flora in this area.

Day 11: Exploration

This next day will be the chance to explore at your own pace and admire the wonders of the location.

Day 12: Private transfer and flight back to the UK

A driver-guide will pick you up. You will head to San José Airport for your flight back to the UK.
