The fabulous Rio das Pedras sits on the edge of sandy beaches South of Rio amongst lush gardens, leafy parks and sunny skies. The powdery beach is part of the protected ecological nature reserve, ‘The Mata Atlantica', and shimmers in the morning sun; it is located in exotic forest boasting gardens containing fresh banana, lemon and juicy pitanga. The popular, stylish Club Med resort still retains much of the colonial spirit of Brazil and is the perfect retreat for couples and families alike. With its natural, awe-inspiring views of the azure ocean, Rio das Pedras hosts the very best facilities that will keep you entertained from the very moment you step off the plane and into the resort!
Talk about Rio to anybody and it instantly conjures up images of flamboyant street dancing, parades and carnivals; enveloped between the shimmering sea and rugged mountains, the capital of Brazil is a mecca for tranquillity and beauty. The Tijuca Forest is the largest urban forest in the world, after being replanted in the latter half of the 19th century, and is a popular attraction for visitors each summer. Rio, quite naturally, boasts some of the world's most stunning monuments and public buildings, such as the Itamaraty Palace, National History Museum, National Museum of Fine Art and the National Library.
Not only that, but Rio is the home to gorgeous Copacabana Beach, which became the host to the first televised FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 1994 ; the annual New Year's Eve celebrations are held here, setting the sky alight with explosive fireworks. Hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs dot the promenade, so there will always be plenty of things to do!
