Embark on a voyage of discovery, following in the wake of the Norse adventurers of old towards the ‘land of ice and fire’, Iceland. Sailing from Tilbury your first port of call will be Invergordon, the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, before cruising towards the Faroe Islands, settled by the Vikings more than a thousand years ago. Discover the remote and picturesque Icelandic towns of Seyðisfjörður, Akureyri and Isafjördur and the breathtaking volcanic landscapes, thundering waterfalls and dramatic fjords that characterise this remarkable country. Day 1 - London Tilbury

At London Tilbury Port, embark Columbus (3T) in preparation for an evening sailing.

Day 2 - At sea

Relax on board Columbus today as we sail through the North Sea, perhaps taking a dip in one of the heated pools or enjoying the live entertainment in the lounges.

Day 3 - Invergordon

Situated on the shores of the deep Cromarty Firth and with a fine natural harbour, Invergordon is the gateway to the northern Highlands and is surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

Day 4 - Kollafjørður, Faroe Islands

We reach the Faroe Islands this morning, calling in at the small village of Kollafjørður on the island of Streymoy, home to around 800 people. There are a number of optional excursions available from the port, including to the islands’ capital, Torshavn, 24km to the south.

Day 5 - Seyðisfjörður, Iceland

At midday our first port of call in Iceland is Seyðisfjörður, on the east coast, which is regarded as one of the prettiest towns in the country, with a fine collection of historic wooden buildings and a distinctive blue church.

Day 6 - Akureyri

This morning we are in Akureyri, which lies at the head of the 60-kilometre long Eyjafjördur, the longest fjord in Iceland. It is home to both the northernmost botanical garden and the northernmost golf course in the world, while you can’t miss the landmark Art Deco church.

Day 7 - Ísafjörður

Situated just below the Arctic Circle, the fishing port of Isafjördur is the largest town in the Westfjords region of Iceland.

Day 8 - Reykjavik

This morning we arrive in Reykjavik, the world’s most northerly capital city. Visit the National Museum, filled with displays chronicling Iceland’s history.

Days 9-10 - At sea

Enjoy the facilities on board Columbus as we sail southwards, maybe unwinding with an indulgent spa treatment in the Wellness Centre or catching up with friends in one of the lounges.

Day 11 - Lerwick, Shetland Islands

Today we visit Lerwick, the UK’s most northerly town and capital of the Shetland Islands. Points of interest include the Shetland Museum, with exhibitions chronicling the islands’ intriguing history from earliest times to the present day, and the Böd of Gremista, a restored 18th century ‘fishing booth’, now housing the collections of the Shetland Textile Museum

Day 12 - At sea

Relax on board your ship today as we make our way homeward.

Day 13 London Tilbury

Arrive at London Tilbury Port.
