If you are looking for a good place to ski this winter then you really need to look no farther than the Italian province of Aosta and/or the city that bears it's name.
Well known Italian resorts that are located in Italy's Aosta Valley include, but are not limited to, Plia, Courmayeur, La Thuile, Cervinia, all of the resorts included in the Monterosa Ski area and many others.
The Aosta Valley is home to some of the Alps highest peaks, Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Cervinio (Matterhorn) and the Monte Rosa. There are over 800km of pistes and 160 lifts in the Aosta Valley, spread across its world famous ski resorts
Turin, Milan and Geneva Airports are all less than 2 hours drive from the Aosta Valley.
Courmayeur is a traditional Italian resort full of character, and surrounded by spectacular scenery. The centre of the village is car-free with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, and a fabulous après-ski scene. Meanwhile the mountain slopes are best for intermediate skiers, although experts will love the heliskiing and off-piste opportunities.
