Les Arcs Ski Holidays 2023/24

Not one but four modern purpose-built resorts, each self-contained with bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a range of après-ski activities. Exceptional snow conditions are guaranteed, thanks to the vast majority of the runs being above 2,000m. Aiguille Rouge, the high point of the resort at 3,226m, has a delightful 7 kms run that takes you to the pretty Alpine village of Villaroger. Snow for the high-performance snow systems is produced each autumn using water from the melting snow from the previous winter, which is stored in Europe’s largest reservoir.
With varied and challenging skiing, and sweeping pistes and forested routes, skiers and boarders of all abilities are well catered for. There’s also a snow park for the budding or experienced freestyler, and also the opportunity for tobogganing, paragliding, heli-skiing and speed riding (an explosive hybrid of paragliding and freestyle skiing that will appeal to adrenalin junkies).
But what really lifts Les Arcs into the top league of international ski resorts is that it is part of Paradiski along with La Plagne, creating 425 km of skiing and the third largest ski domain in the world. Linking these two resorts is the incredible €15 million double-decker Vanoise Express gondola, the biggest, longest and fastest cable car in the world when it opened in 2003, and capable of carrying 2000 people per hour on the 4-minute, 2 km journey.
A visit to the Mille 8 Aquatic and Fitness Centre in Arc 1800 is the ideal location to relax and recharge the ski batteries. There’s a swimming pool and spa, plus steam rooms and saunas (one with a stunning view of the pistes), but head to the solarium for truly fantastic panoramic views of the slopes. There is a bowling alley and cinema, together with a wide choice of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes.
