Day 1 Arrival.

Check in before reconvening for a drive along the southern Attica coast road to visit the spectacular Temple of Poseidon at Sounion.

Overnight: Athens

Day 2 Athens

Visit the Acropolis to see the main sights, including the Parthenon. Stroll down to the Temple of Hephaestus and continue to Syntagma Square to witness all the pomp and ceremony involved in the changing of the guard.

Day 3 Delphi

Visit the archaeological museum and ancient sanctuary of Delphi. The site itself occupies the south-western slope of Mt. Parnassus and commands stunning views across the ruins and the valley below.

Day 4 Olympia

Stopping en route to marvel at the Rio–Antirrio Bridge, spend all afternoon exploring the birth place of the Olympic Games.

Day 5 Monemvasia

Visit the beautiful and eerie abandoned town of Mystras, still populated until the 1960’s, and once a scholarly centre of the Byzantine Empire.

Day 6 Monemvasia

This morning, explore the living museum that is Monemvasia. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 Nafplio

Visit Mycenae to see the fabled home of King Agamemnon and the hub of ‘Greek’ culture from 1600 to 1100 BCE. Continue to Epidaurus for the arguable highlight of the tour, a guaranteed seat on the stone steps of the theatre to witness an ancient Greek production in an original setting.

Day 8 Nafplio

Return to Epidaurus to explore the site that hosted last night’s spectacle. In Nafplio, climb the Palamidi Castle via 999 carved stone steps (or take a taxi!) and marvel at the inspiring views across the Argolic Gulf.

Day 9 Corinth – Athens

Visit the Ancient City of Corinth that played home to both Greek and Roman populations and is famous for being the focus of St. Paul’s pious instructions. After lunch, return to Athens for the afternoon at leisure.
