The Adriatic is never far away as you hop by land and ferry between towns and islands along the stunning coast of Montenegro and Croatia. From Europe’s southernmost fjord, the Bay of Kotor, to the beautiful beach in the island of Korcula, enjoy ancient paths linking rural villages and sun-drenched towns on this escorted walking holiday.

Day 1: Arrival Day

Upon arrival into Dubrovnik airport, you will take a 45 minute transfer out of Croatia to our first centre in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.

Day 2: Orjen Mountain Hike

Starting from Herceg Novi and passing by Spanjola Fortress, Matkovici, continue on to Kameno village and St Jovan Church. Continuing on from Kameno we walk back via the village of Trebesinj and Igalo finishing back in Herceg Novi.

Day 3: Orjen Mountain Hike Part 2

A looped hike to the mountain hut “Za Vratlo”. Your walk starts from Zlijebi with your trail ascending to a plateau from where you continue to walk to the mountain hut. From the hut, descent to Borici. This is a nice walk with a view of the Adriatic sea. At the end of the day you’ll take a 1 hour transfer to picturesque Kotor.

Day 4: Discover Kotor

Walking tour of Kotor taking in the cities ramparts, views of the town and the fjord from Ivan Tower on the top of the ramparts (290 meters climb). The walk takes you down via the small church of Sv. Jovan. Free time to explore town. At the end of the day you will take to the Fjord with a boat trip to Our Lady of the Rock and Perast.

Day 5: Sveti Stefan and Budva

After breakfast, head to Budva. Upon arrival we will have a couple of hours free time to explore town after which moving on to Brajici village and walking via Kosmac Fortress and the village of Ogradjenica close to Sveti Stefan and Przno village. Transfer back to hotel in Kotor bay.

Day 6: High Above Kotor

Your walk starts from Kotor town with a zig-zag trail which will take you to the top of the Vrmac Mountain. The path follows the ridge where you will enjoy views of both the Kotor and Tivat parts of the bay. Descend to Donja Lastva (next to Tivat town). At the end of the walk, take the two hour transfer to Dubrovnik.

Day 7: Free time then onto Korcula

From the last few busy days walking it’s time to take a break with a free morning to explore beautiful Dubrovnik before the boat trip to the Island of Korcula and the final centre of Korcula in the mid afternoon. Some morning options include: walking around old Dubrovnik Walls (200 Kuna), cable car up to Mount Srd, and take a taxi to the city.

Day 8: Hiking to Korcula

A great coastal walk from Lumbarda to Korcula town. The path you follow takes you along the shore with great views of the archipelago and its 22 islets, of which the most interesting ones are Vrnik, and Badija, with its Franciscan monastery dating from the 14th century. Free time for lunch and to explore the town before returning to your hotel.

Day 9: Mljet National Park

Your final full day in the Adriatic begins with a short journey to Korcula town where you then take a ferry to the island of Mljet. Arriving on Mljet, have a loop walk around Malo and Veliko Jezero (the Small and the Great Lake) visiting a small island Sv. Marija located in the Great Lake then return to Pomena. At the end of the walk you will take the boat back to Korcula island and our hotel.

Day 10: Final day

It’s sadly time to go home and your journey back to Dubrovnik begins with a 30 minute ferry crossing followed by 2 hours 30 minutes travelling by road.

In Montenegro and Croatia will be over four centres. Two in Montenegro (Herceg Novi and Kotor) and two in Croatia (Dubrovnik and Korcula on Korcula Island).

All of the hotels we use are 3 star tourist class where you we will be staying in twin, double or single bedded rooms with en-suite facilities. It would be worth noting that most of the hotels we stay in do not have lifts so you will need to be able to carry your luggage.

Room facilities do differ from hotel to hotel however all have en-suite bathrooms, WiFi, air conditioning, television, telephone.

All of the hotels (excluding your accommodation in Dubrovnik) has a pool or easy access to the local beach perfect for a revitalising dip after a days exploration.
