Day 1: Sydney • Hunter Valley • Port Macquarie
Arrive in Sydney and travel to the renowned wine region of Hunter Valley for wine tasting and a delicious lunch at a local winery. After lunch, head to picturesque Port Macquarie and stay overnight at Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges.
Day 2: Gold Coast
Journey to Cape Byron lighthouse for views over the Pacific Ocean from Australia’s easternmost point. There may be the opportunity to spot whales before spending time discovering the bohemian vibe of Byron Bay. Continue to Gold Coast for a 2-night stay at the Novotel Surfers Paradise.
Day 3: Gold Coast
Today there is a choice of included excursions. Join a 4x4 tour to Tamborine Mountain to explore the rainforest, take a boat trip to learn about crab fishing, or gain 360-degree views from the iconic Q1 building.
Day 4: Noosa
Travel north for a short tour of Brisbane and then visit Australia Zoo, an organisation founded by the late Steve Irwin with an emphasis on the conservation of native animals. Finish the day at Noosa and stay 2 nights at The Sebel Noosa. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5: Noosa
Day at leisure in Noosa, with an optional boat ride in the Noosa Everglades.
Day 6: Fraser Island
Take a ferry to Fraser Island, then explore on a 4x4 tour visiting Lake McKenzie and the rainforest near Central Station. Afterwards, travel to Hervey Bay and stay overnight at Mantra Hervey Bay.
Day 7: Rockhampton
Sample some local produce at Ohana fruit orchard and stop at Langmorn Station, a fully operational cattle station where you will enjoy afternoon tea at the homestead. Continue to Rockhampton for a 1-night stay at Quality Hotel Regent Rockhampton with the evening at leisure.
Day 8: Hamilton Island
The first stop of the day will be at Sarina, Australia’s sugar capital. Take a guided tour of a miniature sugar mill and after watching sugar cane production, sample some of the products on offer, followed by a light lunch. Travel to Airlie beach and take the ferry to Hamilton Island, one of the 74 islands that make up the Whitsundays and located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Stay 2 nights at Reef View Hotel.
Day 9: Hamilton Island
Today is at leisure, with an optional cruise to spectacular Whitehaven beach where you can take a walk to Hill’s Inlet for views over the Whitsunday Islands.
Day 10: Mission Beach
This morning board a ferry back to the mainland and follow the Bruce Highway to Mission Beach. Stay overnight at Castaways Resort & Spa, which offers scenic views over the ocean.
Day 11: Cairns
Take time this morning to walk on the golden sands before traveling through the high tropical plateau known as Atherton Tablelands, an area of rainforest, waterfalls and plateaux, with stops at Millaa Millaa Falls and the Curtain Fig Tree, one of the largest trees in Tropical North Queensland. Stop at Kuranda to explore this village in the rainforest and take the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway over Barron Gorge National Park.
Day 12: Great Barrier Reef
Board a high-speed catamaran for a full-day cruise over the Great Barrier Reef. Equipment is provided to snorkel over the reef, or view the underwater world from the observatory or semi-submersible craft. The evening is free to explore Cairns, with a farewell dinner.
Day 13: Onward travel
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home or continue your holiday.
