This small and friendly resort has a prime position on Sri Lanka’s peaceful south coast. Flanked by two golden beaches, with sensational views over the sweeping bays and crashing surf, the Dickwella Resort is focused on laid-back beachfront relaxation. Gaze out over the ocean from the pool and listen to the waves crashing on the rocks below while you enjoy meals at Surf Spray, the main restaurant. Sample local seafood at one of the popular torch-lit seafood barbecues or head out on an early morning fishing excursion to catch your own – look for the local fishermen that perch on poles while waiting patiently for their catch.
You can enjoy Italian favourites including stone-baked pizzas at The Pizzeria, and head up to the Bay Watch bar to sip cocktails and catch the sea breeze. The pool can be pretty lively during the day so you could join in with fun activities such as Zumba or take a stroll along one of the long beaches and find a quiet spot to relax. If you long to get out on the water then there are plenty of watersports available. Ride the waves, snorkel on the reef, or head to the dive centre where experienced divers can book a trip to one of the coast’s best diving sites and beginners can learn the ropes.

There are both indoor and open-air dining areas where you can enjoy locally-inspired cuisine as well as international dishes. A wide range of pizzas and a selection of pasta dishes are served here at lunch and dinner. Enjoy the water views, refreshing drinks and a comfortable spot to sit or lounge at the open-sided Bay Watch bar, open daily between 10am and 10pm.
