Gurung Lodge, Majgaun

Gurung Lodge is the newest of the Ker & Downey trekking lodges and is built along the lines of a traditional Nepalese village. There are 10 houses each with 2 bedrooms and a central restaurant/bar with a large open fire. Each room is en-suite.

The Old Inn Bandipur is located between Kathmandu and Pokhara, two hours' drive from Chitwan National Park. The property is a traditional Newari townhouse decorated with Buddhist and Newari wooden furniture restored into a characterful hotel. 

Temple Tree Resort & Spa, Pokhara

Located in Lakeside, the tourist hub of Pokhara, Temple Tree resort is ideally situated near all the restaurants and shops in this area as well as being a short walk from the scenic Lake Phewa. Each of the 47 comfortably furnished rooms has its own small private terrace or balcony and looks on to the landscaped grounds. 

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Kathmandu

Fly to Kathmandu via Dubai with Emirates.

Day 2: Kathmandu

On arrival transfer to the Hotel Himalaya for a 3-night stay. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant. 

Day 3: Kathmandu

Morning sightseeing of Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath stupa. After lunch visit the Royal Palace of Patan and its stunning display of Newari architecture.

Day 4: Kathmandu

Morning tour of Pashupatinath and Boudhnath stupa. Afternoon dal bhat cookery lesson. Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal and one of the most important Shiva temples in the Subcontinent, whilst Boudhnath is one of the largest religious centre for Nepal's considerable population of Tibetans.

Day 5: Pokhara

After breakfast drive to Pokhara for a 2-night stay at the Temple Tree Resort & Spa. 

Day 6: Pokhara

Morning at leisure. Afternoon sightseeing of Bindabaisni temple, Seti gorge, Devi’s Falls and the Tibetan village. Enjoy a late afternoon boat ride on Phewa lake.

Day 7: Gurung

Drive for an hour to the start point of the walk. Follow a beautiful forested trail along level ground to the Gurung Lodge*, where you will spend 2 nights. Located at 1,450 metres, the lodge is built along the lines of a traditional Nepalese village, with every room affording spectacular views of the Annapurna mountains. 

Day 8: Gurung

Walk for 1.5 hours to the viewpoint of Gurung Hill for magnificent views of Annapurna South and the surrounding mountains. Lunch at the lodge before visiting a nearby village and its museum and local school. 

Day 9: Pokhara

Walk to the end point of the trek and drive to Pokhara for an overnight stay at Temple Tree Resort & Spa. Afternoon at leisure. 

Day 10: Bandipur

Drive to Bandipur, a living museum of Newari culture, for an overnight stay at the Old Inn. Walk through the local village and its main street lined with traditional houses and temples. 

Day 11: Kathmandu

Drive to Kathmandu visiting a local village and the home of a retired Gurkha en route. Overnight at the Hotel Himalaya. 

Day 12: Fly home

Take the flight to London via Dubai with Emirates.
