Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo
Land in Japan’s capital city where you will be met and driven straight to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day getting acquainted with this vibrant city.
Day 2: Tokyo
Start the day in the Asakusa district to see the city's oldest temple, Senso-Ji. Next, continue to one of Japan's most important Shinto sites - Meiji Shrine, followed by a visit to Tokyo's buzzing neighbourhood of Harajuku where you'll find an abundance of colourful street art and quirky vintage fashion stores.
Day 3: Tokyo
Today gives you the freedom to design your own day, choosing an experience best suited to you.
Day 4: Tokyo - Takayama
Leave Tokyo behind as you board one of Japan's high speed bullet trains to Takayama, a stunning mountain town and getaway to the hiking paradise of the Japan Alps.
Day 5: Takayama
Get a taste of the local cuisine with sake tasting, delving behind the scenes of a few cedar-smelling breweries. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 6: Takayama – Kanazawa
Today, you'll be driven to the historic city of Kanazawa - stopping off at the traditional, UNESCO village of Shirakawago - famed for its traditional houses with thatched and steep roofs called Gassho-Zukuri.
Day 7: Kanazawa
Home to Japan's most beautiful gardens, enjoy a stroll round this horticultural paradise.
Day 8: Kanazawa – Kyoto
After a morning exploring on your own the delights of Kanazawa, board the bullet train to Kyoto. Worlds away from futurist Tokyo, explore Japan's once imperial capital.
Day 9: Kyoto
Get ready to visit Kyoto’s iconic Kinkaku-ji, glittering with gold. Now a Zen Buddhist temple offering its visitors fantastical reflections in the mirror-like pond.
Day 10: Hiroshima
Take the bullet train to Hiroshima, the site where the first atomic bomb was dropped on 6 August 1945. Today you can still see the ruins where this devastating attack took place. While the city itself was rebuilt, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park remains as a legacy of the atttack
Day 11: Kyoto
Today, Design your Day – giving you the freedom to choose the experience that is best suited to you.
Day 12: Depart Kyoto
A chauffeur will drive you to the airport from where you will depart.
In Tokyo, choose from the following options:
Option 1: Visit the hi-tech Mori Art Museum and the Suntory Museum of Art.
Option 2: Dive into Tsukiji Fish Market.
Option 3: Begin your samurai training journey.
Option 4: Enjoy a Taiko drumming lesson.
In Kyoto, choose from the following options:
Option 1: Enjoy learning about kimonos and donning one.
Option 2: Browse Nishiki market and prepare traditional sweets.
Option 3: Enjoy a rickshaw ride around the lofty Sagano Bamboo Forest.
