Day 1: Arrive Ushuaia

Arrive in Ushuaia and transfer to your hotel. This small city is the southernmost on earth, and often affectionately referred to as ‘the city at the end of the world’.

Day 2: Embarkation Day

Morning at leisure before embarkation commences in the late afternoon. Sail down the historic Beagle Channel. On his 1833 voyage aboard the HMS Beagle, after which the channel was named, Darwin wrote: ‘It is scarcely possible to imagine anything more beautiful than the beryl-like blue of these glaciers, and especially as contrasted with the dead white of the upper expanse of snow.’

Days 3 – 4: Crossing the Drake Passage

Cross the legendary Drake Passage. Enjoy expert lectures on local wildlife and the history of the first explorers to have adventured to this remote part of the world. Take the opportunity to get to know your fellow adventurers, along with the expedition leaders.

Days 5 – 8: South Shetland Islands & Antarctic Peninsula 

Spend the next four days exploring local bays, channels and landing sites by Zodiac, accompanied by the expedition team. Hike Antarctic landscapes, visit a research station, and look out for the Chinstrap, Adélie and Gentoo penguins along with a variety of seals and whales. Each excursion will present a new collection of creatures and scenery to delight you and keep your camera busy.

Days 9 – 10: Crossing the Drake Passage

The journey back across the Drake Passage provides final opportunities to enjoy the crisp Antarctic air. Spend time on the deck, watching for seabirds and scouting for whales and enjoy presentations by your Expedition Team.

Day 11: Disembark in Ushuaia

Disembark after breakfast and continue with your onward arrangements, all of which can be organised by Wendy Wu Tours. (B)
