The Resort is built on the edge of a cliff at 1600m, overlooking the valley with a 360° view of surrounding mountains. Situated in the heart of the Grand Massif domain, the Resort is only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Geneva, making it popular for families looking to avoid longer transfer times. This ski-in/ski-out Resort offers direct access to the slopes. Guests will benefit from a lift pass which covers two domains - Massif and Flaine (5 stations: Samöens, Morillon, Les Carroz and Flaine and a natural ski park in Sixt Fer a Cheval).

Massif slopes are ideal for beginners, while Flaine slopes are better suited for intermediate and expert skiers. The all-inclusive 4-Trident Club Med Resort is outside the main village at 700m, with a shuttle service available. Guests can take a shuttle when the Grand Massif Express gondola is not in operation; every 30 minutes in the evening until at least 11pm from the Resort at 1600m. During the day, guests can use the Grand Massif Express gondola and a shuttle will run from the bottom of the gondola to the main village and back again. Samoëns is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful towns in France.

You can also visit the snowsure resort of Flaine by a new lift, the Grand Massif Express, which links to Samoëns 1600. Samoens has a traffic free centre and is a traditional town with local delicacies such as mountain hams, local cheeses and delicious pastries.

Is the Resort Ski-in/Ski-out?

All Club Med Resorts in Europe have the extra benefit of being ski-in/ski-out with the exception of Meribel L’Antares (5 minute walk), Cervinia (2 minute minibus transfer) and Saint Moritz (15 minute walk).

Can I book my Ski equipment through Club Med?

Absolutely.  At every Club Med Ski resort, you will find an in-resort ski rental store where you can rent equipment for your holiday, saving you the worry of having to pay extra for your equipment on the plane. In the store, you can rent equipment for the duration of your stay or you can have your own equipment serviced. When you book your holiday with Travel Club Elite you can ask to rent your ski equipment in advance, so as soon as you arrive at the resort you have what you need to hit the slopes!  Charges in the Resort will be higher, so we recommend you book Club Med ski equipment in advance.

How does the Ski tuition work?

You will receive 5 days of group lessons, included in your package. The children's tuition will be separate from the adults' tuition. Ages from 4 years old in many Resorts. Private lessons are available at an additional cost.  Professional ski instructors, all familiar with the ski domain, will guide you over the slopes best suited to your ability, to ensure that you progress safely but surely in the best possible conditions, in small groups of 12 people maximum.

A test on the first morning will determine your level and the right class for you:

Beginners: this is your first experience of Alpine skiing
Class 1: you can control your speed, and are at ease on blue slopes
Class 2: you can negotiate red slopes at a reasonable speed
Class 3: you are at ease on all slopes
Expert: you are at ease on all types of terrain and snow

Top quality equipment and the Ski Service® (at a supplement) is available to ensure your satisfaction.

Do all Resorts have Kids’ Clubs?

Not all.  Meribel Le Chalet and Meribel L’Antares don’t have Kids’ Clubs but welcome children from 4 months of age; a babysitting service is available.  Similarly, Val d’Isere and Val Thorens Sensations don’t have Kids’ Clubs but welcome children from 2 years of age; a babysitting service is available.  Arcs Extreme is an adults-only Resort.

Can I pick my children up to Ski with them for some of the time?

Of course.

What non-Ski activities are there in the Resort?

Please refer to the Resort Facilities tab for details of some of the extra activities available at each resort.  Most resorts cater for adrenaline junkies and guests looking for more leisurely activities, and everything in between!  Examples include snowshoeing, dog-sledding, fat biking, hot tubes, aerial paramotor flights, bobsleighing, zip-lining, activity parks, horse-drawn carriages, snowmobiling, paragliding, airboarding, helicopter sightseeing, ice skating, ice-diving, ice-driving, micro-lighting, walking, hiking, cocktail classes, dinner in an igloo, torchlight descents, yoga, swimming, cinema and squash.  And that perennial ski favourite - bowling!
