Beaches Turks & Caicos & Sandals Grande Antigua

I could scarcely conceal my delight at being recently named as one of just six Sandals Ambassadors in the UK! Sandals is a product that has been close to my heart for all my years in the travel business – those idyllic white, sandy beaches, beautiful accommodation, first-class cuisine & service & an unrivalled array of activities & luxury, all included. I can’t imagine what first attracted me!

I’ve been lucky enough to visit nearly all of the 15 of the Sandals and Beaches Resorts, but the icing on the cake of my Sandals appointment to Ambassador status was a special invitation to see aspirational Beaches on Turks & Caicos, with a stop-off at the stunning Sandals resort on Antigua.

Beaches Turks & Caicos certainly lives up to its name, with an incredible 12-mile stretch of white beach (reckoned to be one of the top 4 beaches in the world!) & the best diving in the Caribbean, beneath crystal clear, turquoise-blue waters.

Whether you’re travelling as a family, group of friends, or as a couple, you could never tire of the exciting range of activities on offer. From the huge 45,000 acre Pirates Islands Waterpark, complete with lazy river, surf simulator & waterslides for all ages, to Sesame Street & its favourite characters & parades, character breakfasts & walkabouts, you won’t be able to resist unleashing your own excitable inner-child to join the fun!

This 5-star property is set out in four ‘Villages’: Caribbean, French, Italian & Key West, all offering different room types – Luxury, Concierge & Butler Levels – and all types of room sizes, even catering for the largest groups of families & friends. The clever layout of the resort gives a feeling of space, but with access to all amenities close at hand.

Gourmets are in for a treat! Dining options cater to every taste, from beachside takeaway at the Jerk Shack and traditional British fayre at the English Pub, to world-class a la carte dining at the Rooftop Restaurant amongst other options! Being a lady of simple tastes (just sometimes!), I must confess to sneaking off to Bobby Dees Diner (really aimed at younger visitors), to enjoy the odd burger & fries! Fine dining wears you down – I don’t know how Her Majesty copes!

Sandals Grande Antigua

Next, a short hop from Turks to Sandals Grande Antigua. Consistently voted the most romantic resort, this resort offers beautiful beaches, 11 sumptuous dining experiences & friendly, attentive staff to take care of everything you need to make this a holiday to remember.

With British Airways now flying direct to Turks & Caicos twice weekly (Thursday and Sundays), with a touchdown in Antigua, island-hopping is a popular choice for those looking to experience the best of two beautiful Caribbean islands. I would suggest enjoying all the fun & action in Turks & Caicos & then relaxation at tranquil Sandals Antigua, ready for your direct flight home.

British Airways was at its brilliant best & I experienced the delights of Business Class, which I would recommend to anyone able to stretch their budget. A calming cocoon of luxury, away from the stress of travel, with charming & friendly, unobtrusive service, and excellent food & wines. Definitely still the world’s favourite airline as far as I’m concerned!

You’re definitely in for the holiday of a lifetime at stunning Beaches Turks and Caicos and Sandals Antigua. A perfect single centre and definitely an even better island-hopping experience. Why not treat yourself to two holidays in one.
