The Royal Palm was by far the most beautiful place that I have ever been to. As one of the world's leading hotels, you would expect it to be beautiful but words cannot describe how perfect the view was when you first arrive and peek over the balcony at the crystal blue water. So clear, that you can see the fish darting about from the balcony where you eat breakfast. 

The hotel is created in a pattern of swirls where waters and pools are never far from your feet and the quiet atmosphere of the resort is drowned out by the slow lapping of the waves against the golden beach. When I first arrived I was shown to my Ocean Suite room and I squealed in delight. I thought nothing could beat the room at Trou Aux Biches and even though the room was smaller, it felt grander, with that turquoise sea fringing my periphery every time I turned around. All of the rooms at the Royal Palm are suites and you have several categories to choose from. You can choose from Tropical Suites, Royal Suites, Presidential Suites and more. The Royal Suite has its own outdoor pool and section of the beach. My suite opens up to my private terrace which offers access down to the pools and then onto the beach in less than a minute's walk. I loved that I could sit on my terrace with my complimentary bottle of bubbly and watch the sea.

The Royal Palm has three restaurants to choose from; La Goelette which is open for breakfast and dinner, La Table Du Capitaine, available for small parties looking for an exclusive venue in privacy, and La Brezza, which looks over onto the beach with terraces. We were lucky enough to arrive on a day where we could eat our buffet on the beach. The staff had created a magnificent buffet of fresh curries, grilled fish, fresh fruits and salads all by the ocean. There was a selection of tiki torches and candles that lit up the beach beside us, and we were seated on a table right next to the sea. There was almost one member of staff per person, and every time I moved to leave my seat they would pull my chair out for me and carry my plate to the buffet, ask me what I wanted and would collect the food for me and then escort me back to my seat. Before I even felt cold, one member of staff offered me a shawl and then a number of warm and brightly coloured shawls were offered to us so that we could enjoy the sea breeze in comfort.

We also dined at La Brezza, where I had the most delicious meal.  A simple grilled white fish with pak choi, saffron sauce and grapefruit. An odd combination which I was surprised at but has since made my stomach rumble with the memories. Although this restaurant sits overlooking the beach it still has impeccable service, with staff refilling your drinks and willing to assist you in any way possible. 

After lunch I headed straight to the beach. Each guest has an allocated sun bed and when you give the member staff your room number he will escort you to your sunbed and provide you with a beach towel. Every sunbed is under a straw parasol and the member of staff will help you move your bed into the position that you like. The beach is pristine with shallow, bright blue waters and a little island where you sit and look back at the resort. 

After lounging on the beach I was given a spa appointment. You entered the spa through a grand entrance which led into a secluded area with shaded chairs, soothing music and a bubbling fountain. You can wash off the oils in the pool at the bottom of the spa or sit in one of the beds and relax while they make you a tasty infusion. My treatment lasted an hour and was by far the best massage that I have ever had. After choosing my oil, pressure and treatment I was treated to a mix of traditional spa treatments to relive pressure and stress.
