The Peloponnese or Peloponnesus is a large peninsula and region in southern Greece, forming the part of the country south of the Gulf of Corinth. It plays host to virtually every tourist that comes to Greece as most of the countries important and imposing ancient sites are to be found there including Olympia, site of the Olympic Games in classical times. The Peloponnese is dominated by two mountain ranges, the Taygetos and Parnon. It has beautiful sandy beaches and serves as Greece's market garden and centre for wine production.
