East Coast Mauritius  West Coast Mauritius

The north of Mauritus provides fine beaches, a great range of accommodation and restaurants, world-class watersports facilities, wonderful shopping opportunities, entertainment and was one of the first spots in Mauritius to welcome people on their holidays.

Grand Baie (Grand Bay) :  A coastal village and mature tourist beach in the district of Rivière du Rempart. The village is on the western side of the northernmost point of Mauritius and was the site of the British Invasion of Île de France in November 1810. Grand Baie (Grand Bay) owes its popularity to the enchanting quality of its emerald waters and to its liveliness by day or by night. It offers facilities for safe swimming, sailing, windsurfing, and water skiing, and is also the departure point for helicopter excursions, deep sea fishing and for boat excursions to the islands to the north of Mauritius: Gunners' Quoin, Flat Island, Round Island, and Serpent Island. Grand Baie and its surroundings also offer a large choice of fashion and craft shops, hotels and restaurants.

Pereybère Beach : The lovely Pereybere public beach is popular because of its shopping facilities, restaurants and pubs.

Balaclava Ruins : Next to Baie aux Tortues, which 17th century sailors named after the numerous tortoises in the area, there are the ruins of the old Balaclava estate. Visitors will be able to see the sea walls, whose initial foundations were laid down by Mahé de Labourdonnais.

The Triolet Shivala : The longest village on Mauritius, Triolet provides the opportunity to visit the biggest Hindu temple, the Maheswarnath, first built in 1819 in honour of the Gods Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma and Ganesha.

The Labourdonnais Orchards : Explore a large variety of tropical fruit trees, colourful and perfumed exotic flowers. Trips on mountain bikes or hiking are possible.
