For travellers wanting more leisurely enjoyment of the wonderful, natural surroundings of Lapland and the marvellous activities you can enjoy there. The Arctic Skies & Husky Trails break gives you seven nights of wonder. Highlights will be two trips beneath Arctic night skies in the hope of encountering the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), a husky wilderness safari, plus tuition in the invigorating skill of cross-country skiing. Departures January to March from Gatwick, Bristol and Manchester.

The definitive ‘cool' ARCTIC Spirit break. Sampling a taste of the land of the Northern Lights ... with one memorable night spent in an igloo! Based at the Davvi Arctic Lodge hotel, in Karesuando. Highlights of your three, four or seven-night Igloo Interlude break include a night sleeping in your very own ice and snow house deep in the wilderness. The comforts of a warm cabin at your igloo's doorstep offer a great way to experience a unique night¹s sleep. You'll also venture out into the Arctic wilderness on a Fell Viewpoint snowmobile safari with an introduction to the ancient art of snowshoeing. And the highlight of your break will be the two trips when we hope you will see the fabled aurora borealis, or Northern Lights. Fells and Fjords - 7 nights. From £849pp.
Fells & Fjords combines the wonder of the Arctic wilderness with time  exploring  the delights of Tromsø, The  celebrated northern Norwegian city. Around half your holiday is spent at the Davvi Arctic Lodge in Karesuando, where the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are frequently witnessed and offering a host of optional winter activities. A daytime Fell Viewpoint Snowmobile safari is included in your holiday. Then you make the spectacular drive back to Tromsø, for several days of city living, including a city walking tour, a visit to the Polaria museum and to Mack's Brewery. As summer's glory fades, a blaze of colour called 'ruska'
The summer in Lapland is followed by a spectacular explosion of colour in the forests, the season known as 'ruska'. Early frosts turn the landscape's myriad leaves into a rich blaze of colour. Autumnal reds, browns and yellows are especially beautiful on the fells.


The Samis
The Sami are Europe's indigenous people, as are the  Eskimos of Greenland. Remarkably, the only European ethnic group to be recognised as an aboriginal people,  Sami have been divided by national borders for centuries. They are a diverse people speaking several dialects of the Sami language
